Relationship Seminar
This seminar presented the early findings of the work on collaborative relationships carried out by Soma consultants on behalf of the NAO. This work is now complete and can be viewed in detail under the ‘Collaborative Relationships’ tab.
The NAO is committed to supporting the success of Defence Projects. A current focus is being given to recognising the potential benefits that can be gained from investing in relationships and behaviours within project teams. Many industries, Oil & Gas and Construction, for example, have delivered huge improvements to project success through investment in this area. A number of projects have utilised measurement systems that demonstrate quantifiable benefits. SOMA consultants have attempted to gather some of this data – both the measurement systems themselves and the quantifiable evidence of success – to produce joint paper that will highlight to those involved in MoD projects the benefits of investment in relationships. This paper will build on the “gold standard” good practice criteria for project control identified in “Driving the Successful Delivery of Major Defence Projects: Effective Project Control is a Key Factor in Successful Project”’, specifically in the area of “Establishing and sustaining the right cultural environment”, one of the four levels of successful project control. This seminar is being used to present the findings of this paper and to promote useful dialogue between all interested parties.
